USWDS gives federal digital products a shared foundation for accessibility, consistency, responsive behaviour, and public trust. In this project, I applied that foundation to D.E.A.R., the fictional "Department of Ethics, Accountability & Responsibility", then built a brand layer around it.
I chose "Ethics, Accountability, and Responsibility" because public service should bring out the best in the people who choose it. D.E.A.R. imagines a system that encourages thoughtful, informed, and capable leadership by looking beyond party labels and political theatre. Candidates are evaluated through evidence, integrity, civic knowledge, scientific and historical literacy, respect for secular government, and a genuine commitment to serving people. The idea is simple: better-informed leaders give us a better chance of building a government that is fair, compassionate, competent, and worthy of public trust.
