USWDS gives federal digital products a shared foundation for accessibility, consistency, responsive behaviour, and public trust. In this project, I applied that foundation to D.E.A.R., the fictional **Department of Ethics, Accountability & Responsibility**, then built a brand layer that feels official without looking generic. Deep navy carries authority, sienna adds warmth, amber supports highlights and warnings, warm cream softens the interface, and near-black keeps content readable. The typography follows the same logic. Merriweather gives headings institutional weight, Source Sans Pro keeps body copy and controls clear, and Roboto Mono separates salaries, grades, dates, and IDs as operational data. USWDS provides the behavioural structure. D.E.A.R. lets me show how colour, type, spacing, focus, and content rules can turn that structure into a complete product identity.
